Management Board

The Management Board runs the DTP and is the primary decision-making body. It meets at least four times a year. At its meetings the Management Board discusses and agrees policy and strategy for the DTP, and has final oversight of recruitment and selection, training provision, placements and partnership work.

The Management Board is chaired by the DTP Director, and is composed of three senior academic representatives (one per institution). The Chair of the Student Liaison Group attends the Management Board to represent the interests of the DTP’s students. The DTP’s three strategic partners are entitled to send one representative each to meetings.

Strategy Board

The Strategy Board provides oversight of the management and governance of the consortium, and ensures the delivery of key objectives. Membership includes representatives from each university and two external members. It meets annually to review progress against objectives, and to offer high-level support and advice to the Director and the Management Board on future plans.

The work of the Management Board is supported by two formally constituted Sub-Groups, which help to develop and implement the strategy and plans agreed by the Management Board.

The Training Development Group (TDG)

The TDG is chaired by a member of the Management Board and includes at least one academic representative from each university partner and one student representative. Its purpose is to oversee the training developed centrally by the DTP. It draws on professional researcher development expertise from the constituent universities, and has devolved responsibility to issue calls for bids to develop student- or academic-led training, to oversee the development of digital and other training assets, to allocate funding (up to a fixed ceiling) and report this to the Management Board.

The Student Liaison Group (SLG)

The SLG seeks to embed the student voice at the heart of the DTP. The Student Liaison Group is composed of two DTP students from each institution, with a Chair elected from this number. The Chair will attend both the Strategy Board and the Management Board. The Student Liaison Group will liaise with the DTP student cohorts at each institution, will make recommendations and suggestions to the Management Board.
