Mary was previously based at the University of Oxford where, following her undergraduate degree in Theology and Religion, she completed a Clarendon-funded MPhil in Ecclesiastical History. Most recently, she was awarded the Ellerton Theological Essay Prize for the best MPhil dissertation submitted for examination at the University of Oxford. Her doctoral research at the University of Cambridge is a development of this project, centring on early modern textile handiwork as a crucial site of spirituality, religious debate, and the transmission of confessional identities. Her work straddles the intersections between religion, material culture, and gender history, and is supervised by Professor Alexandra Walsham.
Her work is funded by the OOC AHRC-DTP with Vice-Chancellor’s Award.
