I am a DPhil candidate in History at Magdalen College, Oxford, supervised by Professor Guido Bonsaver and Dr Natalya Benkhaled-Vince. My doctoral project examines the cultural history of postwar seasonal migration from southern Italy to Western Europe, particularly focusing on the women who remained behind. By investigating gendered (im)mobility through micro-historical and oral history methods, my research aims to contribute to the historiography of labour migration in 20th-century Europe and deepen our understanding of postwar north-south divides.
I hold a BA in History from the University of Birmingham. I then completed an MSt at Lincoln College, Oxford, with a dissertation on the impact of eugenics on internal migration policies in early 20th-century Italy. I have also completed an internship at The Hague's Institute for Historical Justice and Reconciliation. My doctoral research is generously funded by the OOC AHRC DTP and the Clarendon Fund.
