Helena Trenkić

I completed my undergraduate and MPhil degrees at the University of Cambridge, and will commence the PhD in January 2022, co-funded by the OOC AHRC DTP and Isaac Newton Trust. My PhD research, supervised by Dr Celia Donert, examines discourses and understandings of human rights amongst academics, students, and workers in late socialist Yugoslavia, with particular interest in the right to self-determination. My practical as well as academic interest in human rights has led to volunteer work for organisations including Amnesty International, UNICEF UK, and the National Council of Women of Great Britain, and an internship with the United Nations' Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate in autumn 2021.
