Jade Bentil is a Black feminist historian and writer. Her work explores the feminist activism and everyday modes of refusal of Black women in Britain throughout the twentieth century. Her postgraduate dissertation, ‘Black Women Fighting Back in Thatcher’s Britain’, won the 2017 Marion Sharples Prize for Best Dissertation at the University of Leeds. In mapping Black women’s narratives of resistance, Jade is currently developing her work at doctoral level at the University of Oxford.
