Joshua Ballance is currently studying for a D. Phil. at Christ Church, Oxford, generously supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Council. He achieved an M. Phil. in musicology, awarded with Distinction, at King’s College, Cambridge, where he read for his undergraduate degree, achieving a Double First in Music. Whilst pursuing these degrees, he was awarded an academic scholarship, and received various prizes and grants for his academic work. His research uses digital tools to investigate early post-tonal harmony from a statistical perspective. Alongside his academic work, he conducts & composes.
