As an OOC DTP student you will be able to participate in researcher development activities organised by the OU, Oxford and Cambridge. An overview of select annual events across the consortium is given below. Further details of each year's event will be advertised here and circulated by email.
Cambridge AHRC DTP Annual Lecture
An opportunity to hear an internationally renowned speaker address a theme of broad import across the arts and humanities. Previous speakers have included Professor Akosua Adomako Ampofo (University of Ghana, African Studies), Professor Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht (Stanford, Literature), and Professor Adriana Cavarero (Verona, Political Philosophy). Lectures have addressed 'Race-ing the Academy: Acute on Chronic', ‘The Humanities and the University Today’, ‘Why Prosody and Rhythm Matter – in Poetry and in the Humanities at Large’, ‘What is Left of Marx?’, and ‘Political Phonospheres: Plurality and Crowds’. AHRC-TORCH Public Engagement with Research Summer School (PERSS), Oxford
Developed by Oxford Humanities and TORCH: The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities, this five-day summer school provides research students and postdocs with the skills to integrate public engagement into their research. In previous years contributors have included the BBC, the Oxford Playhouse, the Being Human Festival of the Humanities, and Birmingham Museums Trust. Cambridge AHRC International Postgraduate Conference
Originally developed by the University of Cambridge's AHRC DTP, this flagship opportunity offers second-year AHRC-funded students the chance to organise a major international postgraduate conference. Held each September, it involves delegates from the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School of Cologne University, the Australian National University, the European University at Saint Petersburg, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University. Digital Humanities at Oxford Summer School
The DH Summer School offers training to anyone with an interest in the Digital Humanities, including doctoral students. Participants follow one of nine parallel workshop strands throughout the week, supplementing their training with expert guest lectures.
