My name is Jan Eijking, I’m a German-Dutch student reading for the DPhil in International Relations at Balliol College, University of Oxford. After completing a BA in Politics and Psychology at University College Utrecht, The Netherlands, I came to Oxford for the MPhil in International Relations. I’m interested in the politics of knowledge and the history of political thought, particularly the idea of “expert governance” in both contemporary and historical perspectives. During the DPhil I will be investigating the latter’s role in late-nineteenth century liberal internationalism.
