My DPhil research explores the ways in which space and place reshaped folkloric figures in nineteenth-century England. I graduated with a BA in English Literature from Durham University in 2014, and with an MPhil in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of Cambridge in 2016. My undergraduate dissertation traced the development of the fairy in art and literature, while my MPhil dissertation studied the imagery of original sin in Arthurian myth. I am interested in the interaction between word and image, magic and industry, and place and legend during the Victorian period.
