My PhD project explores the relationship between humans and the environment in the poetry of Ovid. Jointly funded by the AHRC and Trinity College, Cambridge, my research aims to enrich our understanding of Roman attitudes to the environment through innovative ecocritical readings of ancient texts. I am particularly interested in the interaction of poetics and ecological thought in Ovid’s portrayals of environmental crisis. I began work on this topic in my MPhil degree, which I also took at Cambridge, having completed a BA at Oxford.
