I completed my BA in History at Wolfson College, Cambridge, where I graduated with a Double First Class with Distinction in 2022. I was then generously supported by the Fitzwilliam College Hong Leong-Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship for my MPhil in World History at Cambridge. My research focused on the British Chinese Protectorate, a colonial institution in Singapore, and I graduated with a Distinction in 2024.
My PhD project examines the political history of ethnic Chinese communities in Britain from 1919 to 1953. It recovers the histories of their activities and examines how British Chinese politics engaged with and was shaped by various factors, including British domestic politics and racism, diasporic transnationalism, and influences from China-based political forces. More broadly, my research interests include the history of modern Britain and the British empire in a global context, as well as the history of overseas Chinese communities.
