I am a DPhil student in History at Magdalen College, Oxford and student convenor of Oxford’s Race and Resistance programme. My doctoral research is primarily concerned with comprehending and historicising 'black anarchism'. This is an explicit attempt to widen the history of the 'black radical tradition' so as to encompass anarcho thought and action. For this, I centre the British Black Power movement’s rejection of the state, the anti-hierarchical praxis of radical black feminisms throughout the black Atlantic, and the spread of dissident Caribbean culture in the second half of the twentieth century. Outside of my thesis, I am interested in the memory of slavery, The Smiths, and understanding and disrupting what Stuart Hall called 'The Heritage’.
