Francesco Feriozzi

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Lettere Moderne (2013-2016) and my Master’s degree in Filologia Moderna (2016-2018) at Università degli Studi di Roma ‘Sapienza’. I was on on a 6-month Erasmus placement at Durham University in 2016-2017. My main areas of interest are the reception of Medieval literature (with special regard for Occitan) in the Italian Renaissance, Medieval Occitan literature, linguistic and literary theories in Italy in the 16th century, and the theory and practice of traditional and authorial philology. I also cultivate an interest for Alessandro Manzoni’s work (especially his Venetian production and Fermo e Lucia). My DPhil thesis, supervised by professor Simon Gilson and titled 'The Reception of Troubadour Poetry in 16th-Century Italy: from The Questione della Lingua to Giammaria Barbieri’s Arte del Rimare', explores the influence of the rediscovery of Occitan literature in Renaissance Italy and includes a critical edition of the fundamental treatise 'Arte del Rimare' (also known as 'Origine della poesia rimata') with a commentary.
