Zack Di Lello composes music that asks questions and tries to avoid answers. He is interested in creating music that explores phenomena of ‘nature’ that often go unnoticed by people. Music and art are methods through which we can bring people together to look at the world in a new way. In the case of Zack’s work, listeners are asked to find similarities between humans and plants, ‘natural’ environments and human environments, and species-specific communication systems. When he isn’t composing, Zack plays trumpet as well as Javanese gamelan. He is a DPhil student with supervision from composer Jennifer Walshe and ecologist Cecilia Dahlsjö.
